Chain ch
About the Chain
The chain is 22 yards, or 66 feet, exactly 20.1168 metres. Edmund Gunter devised the surveyor's chain of 100 links around 1620, which made acres easy to compute: one acre is ten square chains. A cricket pitch is one chain long between the stumps.
