Degree Celsius °C
About the Degree Celsius
The degree Celsius is equal in size to the kelvin, but its scale is offset so that 0 °C is 273.15 K. It is named after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius, whose 1742 scale originally ran backwards, with 0 for boiling water and 100 for freezing. The 9th CGPM replaced the name centigrade with Celsius in 1948.
