About the Pood
The pood was 40 Russian funt, about 16.38 kilograms. It was the standard unit for grain, metals and other bulk goods and was used in Soviet statistics in the early years after metrication. Kettlebells are still traditionally sized in poods, with 16, 24 and 32 kg the common weights.
