Tola tola
About the Tola
The tola was standardised under British rule in India as 180 troy grains, about 11.66 grams, roughly the weight of a silver rupee coin. India adopted the metric system in the late 1950s, but gold in South Asia and the Gulf is still widely traded in tolas, including the ten-tola bar.
