Litre L
About the Litre
The litre is a cubic decimetre, a cube 10 centimetres on each side. From 1901 to 1964 it was defined as the volume of one kilogram of water at maximum density, making it slightly larger than a cubic decimetre. Both l and L are accepted symbols; the capital avoids confusion with the digit one.
